Call of Duty: Ghosts - A New Call of Duty?
Call of Duty: Ghost isn’t a sequel to Modern Warfare or Black Ops, but a whole new series in a whole new universe; one where the USA has fallen victim to an attack from an orbital weapons platform and collapsed as a global superpower. Ten years later, its economy crippled and its armed forces rendered impotent, the land of the free is easy pickings for a South American federation, whose armies cheerfully steam in to occupy. America’s last hope rests on the ghosts, two brothers and their elite group of paramilitary fighters, running guerrilla operations both on and outside US soil.
Ghosts rings the changes in a number of ways. The plot, written with the help of Hollywood scribe Steven Gaghan, focuses down on a single set of characters, which Gaghan believes will help develop characters that the players can root for. It also makes the protagonists underdogs, operating on minimal resources, without the might of the world’s most powerful nation behind them. Most importantly, as every fool knows, this is the C.o.D with a D.O.G, namely the brothers’ dog, Riley. He can scout, guard your back, tackle enemies and – apparently – run amok in a helicopter. He’s the Rin Tin Tin star of the show.
Available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360
